The new hair - Trends for 2012

Whilst the majority of viewers have given their attention to the clothes on the catwalks of London Fashion Week, I have been keeping an eye on the upcoming hairstyles for 2012.

In a season defined by minimalism and natural beauty, hairstylists chose easy elegance as a theme for spring-hair.

Whether with the sleek, slicked back style, polished ponytails or the no-fuss centre-parted style, the minimalistic natural look is certainly a winner for spring/summer 2012.

No-fuss centre parting
The easy and practical but pretty hairstyle has been been the choice for many designers this season. Easy but beautiful. Sounds good to me.

Braids, Knots and Plaits

Braids, braids and more braids. They were all over the catwalk this season and many designer's favourite. Whether milkmaid style, fishtails or sleek plaits at the crown, I love them all and can not wait to try them.

The Festival look
Whether adorned with flowers or slightly waved with a simple centre-parting, the festival hair is the perfect finish for the natural beauty-look.

Slicked back
Modern, minimalistic and undeniable cool.
Those must be the reasons, why Giambattista Valli and Roland Mouret were not the only ones going for this look this season.

The neat ponytail

Not quite as high as last season, but still super-straight. The ponytail turned out not to be just a one-season wonder and isn't going anywhere just yet
.

The wet-look

It seemed like the models of Alexander Wang had been caught out by an unexpected shower just before stepping on the catwalk. The wet-look (whether sleeked back or loose and wavy) is a must-have (or at least a must-try) this season.

The Retro look
With all the vintage-fashion trends coming back, it is no surprise, that retro-hair is back in fashion too. This beautiful sleek Sixties-esque style has been seen on the models of the Jil Sander-show.
